The Alarm System for our building is a local alarm and does not alert authorities to an emergency.  Remove yourself from any dangerous situation and immediately call 911.

If you hear the Fire Alarm or See the Strobe Lights:

  • Stay Calm
  • Follow Instructions of your Floor Warden (you may be asked to search the restrooms or offices or to help disabled people from the area).
  • Feel doors before opening them.  Do not open any that are hot.
  • Close doors behind you, but do not lock them.
  • Do not return for papers or personal articles.
  • Do not use the elevators.
  • If smoke is present, stay low (the best air is near the floor)
    • If you are trapped by smoke remain calm.  Put towel or article of clothing under the doors.  If you are near a perimeter window, signal for help by placing a sign in the window.
  • If you are outside the building during a fire, stay far enough away to avoid possible falling glass.

If you discover a fire:

  • Pull the Fire Alarm Box (AKA Manual Pull Station).
    • Alarm Boxes are located at each stairwell door
  • Call 911.
  • Notify your floor warden and others on your floor.
  • Exit the premise (close doors behind you).

If there is an Earthquake:

Have a change of clothes available in case of an earthquake, including comfortable walking shoes and any medications/personal items required for up to 72 hours.

During an earthquake you are safer inside the building than you are outside.  If you do feel a tremor:

  • Get under a table or desk to protect yourself from flying objects.
  • Stay away from windows.
  • Do not use the elevators.
  • Listen for instructions from your Floor Warden.
  • Do not attempt to use the stairs or evacuate the building without being instructed to do so.

If you receive a bomb threat:

  • Try to get as much information as you can about the threat:
    • Location and type of device.
    • Its detonation time.
    • The reason for its placement.
  • Call the San Francisco Police Department at: 415-553-0123.
  • Call Tony Castellano at: 415-215-6359 or page Tony @ 888-548-3475.
  • Inform a floor Warden.
  • Inspect your work area but do not touch or remove any suspicious devices or unusual objects.

If you discover a suspicious device or unusual object:

  • If you find a suspicious device or unusual object, do not attempt to move or touch it.
  • Call Tony Castellano at: 415-215-6359 or page Tony @ 888-548-3475.
  • Alert a floor Warden.

In Case of a Medical Emergency:

  • Remain Calm.
  • Call 911.
  • Provide any medical assistance that your training will allow (there is a first aid kit at reception on the 5th floor).
