Skytel Pager Instructions

Read these instructions.  They will get you started.

This Document has 3 parts:

Your pager comes with a rechargeable battery.  Lock the pager into the cradle to recharge.  The green light will turn on when the pager receives a full charge.  A blinking red light indicates a problem with charging.

Your Pager has the ability to sync with Outlook. If you would like to learn more about this feature, make an appointment with Tony Castellano.

Pager Features

You have a pager on Skytel's Skywriter service.  Skywriter allows you to receive, respond to and initiate emails from your pager.

The pager is nationwide and has guaranteed page delivery.

If the pager reads FULL SERVICE, you will receive all your pages, any stored pages and have the ability to respond to pages.

STORING means you are out of range and will receive pages when you come back to civilization.

BASIC SERVICE is some where in between; you can receive new messages but cannot respond or receive stored messages.

WHAT'S MY NUMBER?

There is a 10 digit number on a sticker on the back of your pager.

To leave a numeric page, dial 1 plus the number on the back of the pager. All numbers are toll free.

Your e'mail address is the number on the back w/ @Skytel.com.

You are listed in Bigstep's Outlook directory under Pager-your name.

Your PIN # (security code) is in your In-Box. Please write down and delete. Dial your pager # and enter your PIN to leave a personal greeting. Leave your message and tell people to press 1 to leave you a numeric page.

The code allows you to make changes to your account and check your messages via the phone. Yes, if you can get to a phone, you can access your pages. Skytel will store pages for three days.

Do not use your pager to receive all of your emails.  You get a certain allotment of text each month.  When you exceed that amount it gets really expen$ive.  Use text sparingly.  If certain people will email your pager regularly, tell them to keep it short and lose both signatures and subjects.
