July 1998 The Springfield Project is founded.
August 1998 TSP rents its first "office", a 10x10 room in the PhoenixPOP office at 512 Second St.
September 1998 TSP secures first round of funding?
October 1998 All 5 founders are on board.
Founders: Andrew Beebe, Tim Roberts, John Shiple, Josh Jacobs, Bud Rosenthal.
November 1998 TSP starts hiring full-time employees.
December 1998 TSP moves into its first real office at 530 Hampshire.
10 employees.
April 1999 TSP named "Debutante Company" at Esther Dysons' PC Forum.
20 employees.
June 1999 TSP secures $10 million in funding.
30 employees.
July 1999 Bigstep.com launches public beta.
40 employees.
August 1999 Bigstep at DEMO?
50 employees.
Early 2000 Bigstep moves into Bay View Bank building on Mission and 22nd streets.
75 employees.
March 2000 Bigstep secures $50 million in funding.
120 employees?
September 2000 Andrew steps down as CEO and is replaced by Lucy Reid.
150 employees?
October 2000 Bigstep becomes symbol of displacement in the Mission.
175 employees?
December 2000 First round of mass layoffs. 25% reduction.
125 employees?
July 2001 Bigstep offers suite of pay-for services.
110 employees?
October 2001 Second round of mass layoffs. 75% reduction.
40 employees?
October 2002 Affinity acquires Bigstep.
20 employees?
November 2004 The last original Bigstep employees leaves Affinity.
April 2008 Bigstep.com closes. Traffic is forwarded to Hostway.com
August 2008 Bigstep 10 Year Anniversary.
